Your dog is your most trusted four-legged partner and seeing him in any kind of pain or illness is the last thing you would want to face. All dog breeds have vaccination requirements just like human beings. So, knowing about it and conforming to it can help a lot in keeping the dog happy and healthy.
The dog vaccination schedule that fits all breeds looks something like this:
- 6-8 weeks: Distemper, parvovirus are the recommended vaccines. Some veterinarians may suggest the Bordetella vaccine too. These diseases occur due to poorly developed immune systems which is normal for a 6-8 week old puppy.
- 10-12 weeks: DHPP (Vaccine for distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza). Vaccine for Lyme diseases is for the lifestyle.
- 16-18 weeks: DHPP, Rabies are recommended. Additional vaccines for Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme disease, etc. are to be given to adjusting to the lifestyle.
4. 12-16 months: DHPP, Rabies. Coronavirus, leptospirosis, Lyme disease, and Bordetella vaccines need to be given in addition, if the lifestyle demands
5. Every 1-2 years: DHPP
6. Every 1- 3 years: Rabies vaccine ( it is a legal requirement in some countries)
Vaccination Schedule
This vaccination schedule is more or less same for all breeds of dogs. Vaccination is an important part of pet care because it is essential to keep the dog safe from various dreaded diseases. Some diseases may be life-threatening too. Also, the chances of their being contagious are not too meek.
Hence, to give the pet a happy and disease-free life and also to keep other family members safe from diseases, following a vaccination schedule is a must.
To top it all, the high dog price can pinch a lot financially too, if the dog is not keeping well most of the times in want of vaccination schedule. A dog trusts you a lot; thus, following vaccination schedule is your way of valuing that trust.
